Can xfinity tech support no longer reset Gateway Admin page (10.0.0.1)?

Long ago I remember that getting on the phone with an agent was a viable way to get the password reset for the admin page without having to do a hard reset. The tier 1 folks are telling me that that is the ONLY way. Is that correct?
