Over Quota spam

Hey Comcast,


Putting aside the fact that my wife managed to fill up her inbox and blow her quota, do you really think it's helpful to send 1 quota warning message per minute to the inbox????


Having to clean these up only adds to the problem.  Please update your postmaster configuration to something more reasonable.

@Zone99 can you please PM me the email you are having this issue with so i can investigate? The system should not be sending you that many emails about quota unless you are trying to send emails.

For example if you are using an email client, it can have a retry function where it just sits in the outbox continuously trying to send while the mailbox is full, so it would generate a new notice every time it tries to send.

How to stop the over quota spam when I have already done the stuff and deleted thousands!

@cahoningford, I am sorry to hear you have had problems with the over quota message. I can see how annoying that must be for you. I would be happy to help. Are you sending mass emails at once?


Please keep these simple rules in mind:


  • An email message can be sent to a maximum of 100 recipients. Any messages sent to over 100 recipients will not be delivered.
  • Xfinity customers can email up to 1,000 recipients per day. If an account exceeds the 1,000-recipient limit, the account will not be able to send for the remainder of the day.
  • The maximum size of an email cannot exceed 25 MB; this includes attachments, headers, text, formatting, etc.

Many users are unaware their computers are being used to send spam. These limits allow us to cut down on the harm infected computers can cause on our network.
